The smallest things.../ Sheena Rowlands / Choose a shape

Hi there Sheena here again x
This month on the blog we have been challenged to choose a shape and use it as a focus on our pages either in a large way or as embellishments.

The smallest things...

I decided to use one shape to make another on my page so using scraps from Pebbles Lullaby paper range I cut 2 inch squares which I then halved diagonally and arranged in the shape of a heart.
If you try this just be aware of the direction of some of your patterns as initially I had stocks flying upside down on one of my triangles!!

When I was happy with their position I machine sewed them down to add texture. I then embellished with die cuts and stickers from the same paper range and matted my photo on papers from the 6x6 pad and added to the right of the heart. I tried not to cover too much of the stitching as it was a bit of a labour of love!
I finished with a few splashes of watercolour paint onto the cardstock.

I hope you get chance to try this for yourself x
Till next time.

Free Cut File

Happy February scrappers!

It's Lisa-Jane from Pretty My Page here with this month's free cut file.

With February's challenge being to use a particular shape as a feature of your layout, my thoughts immediately turned to hearts.  You can use this cut file as it is and back it with lots of different scraps or little embellishments, or use it for half the page or choose one of the hearts and do something else with it entirely - the choice is is yours.

You can find instructions for downloading and using the cut file in Silhouette here.  And don't worry if you don't have an electronic die-cutter, we've got some ideas for using them without one here.

As always, we'd love to see what you create with the cut file so please do link us in the comments below and if you're on social media then please don't forget to use the hashtags #ukscrapaddicts and #uksacutfiles

Wishing you all a love-ly month!

Don't Count the Days | ScrappyNerdUK | Choose a Shape

Hi Friends,

So this months theme was choose a shape. I almost grabbed my circle punch for this layout and then I thought I would choose something a little different and work with a tag shape.

So I started by cutting my 8.5x11 piece of white cardstock into a tag shape by just cutting each of the top corners and then added a hole in the centre at the top.

I clustered 3 tags behind my photo and matted my photo onto some white card. I used another tag (all from the same cut apart sheet from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection) as part of my title. So my title started by using the Thickers from the same collection and spelled out "Don't Count the Days" and on the bottom of the tag was the remainder of the title/quote "Make the Days Count". I then added 2 more sticker tags from the sticker sheet (same collection again) and added some navy and white twice to each of the tags.

I then started embellishing by adding a few tiny word stickers and also some pieces of ephemera. Left over I had some hot air balloon ephemera and although it has no relevance to the photo, I thought that it complemented my title very well - all about positivity and making the most of things.

I loved the puffy stickers from this collection so added a couple of hot hair balloon puffy stickers (I needed to or else I would have hoarded them - they are so cute!).

And a couple of heart stickers from the same sticker sheet almost finished the layout off.

And a dash of Gold Heidi Swapp Colour Shine and this layout was finished. I'm so pleased with how this turned out and has really made me think outside the box a little more for my next "choose a shape" layout.

Squad Goals | Terri Morris | Star Shape

Here on the UK Scrap Addicts blog this month we have  been challenged to pick a specific shape and use that as a focus for our layout. Whether it be a main element or more subtle with the embellishments as I have done here.

I chose the star shape as my main focus and used lots of different types of stars to add my embellishment to the page. I have puffy sticker, paper topped with vellum, wood veneer and cork stars dotted across the page.

This is one of my go to layout designs if my mojo is on the blink and I always love how different it looks as its heavily dependent on the patterned paper and embellishments used.

I used the large puffy sticker style words to create my title and then finished it off by adding and embellishment cluster to the bottom of it. I'm loving the colour scheme of the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection it seems to fit so many of the photos I have taken recently.

Thanks for looking. We would love to see any creations you make this month so be sure to tag us on Instagram.

Happy Crafting!
