Vicci Lou | Totally Rad | Large Photo

Hey fellow UKscrapaddicts, I hope that you're all well and that your Thursday will be a good one! So this month over on the UKscrapaddicts Blog, Instagram and Facebook pages we are working together to showcase our examples of what you can do with large photos. I have to admit that this is a challenge for me personally, and I'll let you into a secret... its actually the first time I've ever used a large photo in my scrapbook layouts. So if I can do it then so can YOU!! please share with us over on Instagram using the #ukscrapaddicts, or come and join the discussion over on the UKScrapaddicts Facebook page, we love to hear from you and see what you're creating.

Our sponsor for July is non other than the lovely UK based Bramble fox which are offering a lovely discount of 15% off purchases in the month of July, just use 'SCRAPADDICT' at the checkout.

Okay so onto the Layout. Using a large photo meant that I didn't use any patterned paper I just basically used the photo as the HUGE main element and added some embellishments and journaling right onto the actual photo I have to admit this to me was terrifying.. what if I spelt something wrong, or smudged the gel pen. what if I decided I didn't like the placement of something.. would it rip my photo if I pulled it up.. after much faffing and worrying I decided to just get straight to it though and I'm pleased with how it turned out. Its not my fave layout ever however I am happy that I rose to the challenge and made it work.

Here is the completed Layout.

I used a mixture of Cool Kid by create paper and Alex by Bella Blvd for my embellishment clusters. I didn't feel that I had room for 3 clusters on this Layout so I cheated (a little) and used my journaling as the £rd spot, which i did using a white gel pen (most likely from Wilkinsons) to just add my few lines onto the photo.

With the picture being one of my son on a motor bike I pulled out all of the car and gear type embellishment as I can't think of another time I would use them in any form of context (not that that matters really but I do love a good themed page haha) I mixed in a couple of stars and used the very technical stick and plonk technique haha so that I didn't end up being indecisive, after all I

was already flapping and nobody has time for that! lol. Here's a couple of closeups of my clusters

I also took my title from the same little tub of embellishments as it fit well with how Spencer was feeling about getting to sit on his gramp's motorbike 'like a big boy'. Once I had finished sticking and plonking i added a little doodley border right on the edge of my photo something I saw Laura from ukscrapaddicts do on a layout and i just loved it. I think it just stops the photo from floating around in space, without adding the extra weight of patterned paper.

all in all this layout came together in around 20 mins which is even fast for me. i guess there's something to be said about not faffing about with layers of our beloved pretty paper!

well i hope that you have a go at this challenge along with us all. Don't forget to join us on Facebook to be in with the chance to win an amazing prize from Bramble Fox. have a great day and thank you for joining me today!

love and bubbles
Vicci Lou
